During the COVID-19 crisis, The Salvation Army continues to partner with the city of SF to distribute fresh meals (Monday - Friday) to around 375 homeless people in encampments across San Francisco. We urgently need volunteers to accompany Officers and Staff as we distribute meals.Volunteers will assist in sorting meals by route ready for delivery, then will be assigned to a team for distribution, led by Salvation Army Officers and supported by staff members. Volunteers will allocated to a team (1-2 per team) on arrival at the loading area (South of Market). We anticipate the shift will be 2-3 hours (including sorting and delivery).Masks and gloves will be provided, along with clothing to identify volunteers as being with The Salvation Army. All possible efforts are being taken to ensure social distancing is maintained both amongst team members (except during transportation) and clients.
