The Food Pantry Volunteer will help provide essential food assistance to low-income individuals and families, with a focus on serving the elderly population in our community. Volunteers will play a key role in ensuring the efficient distribution of food, assisting clients with dignity and respect, and supporting the overall operations of the pantry.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Unload and sort food donations, organizing items for distribution.
Assist with packing and distributing fresh produce and pantry staples to clients.
Manage the distribution line to ensure smooth and fair service.
Provide friendly and compassionate assistance to individuals receiving food.
Maintain a clean and orderly pantry area.
Follow all safety and food handling guidelines.
If bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese), assist in translating for non-English-speaking clients (preferred but not required).
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to lift moderate to heavy items (10-50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse population.
Willingness to follow directions and work as part of a team.
A heart for serving the community and treating clients with kindness and dignity.
Schedule & Time Commitment:
When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM – 3 PM.
Time Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to commit to at least one shift per week.
Additional Information:
On-site training provided, including food handling and distribution procedures.
