For over 60 years, The Salvation Army has delivered Christmas meals to around 4000 homebound seniors and disabled adults. This year we will be serving over 4700 people!

COVID-19 has impacted everyone, and the elderly and housebound adults in our community have been impacted more than most as they experience even more isolation this year. The special touch of a fresh holiday meal and a warm greeting from our volunteers will be extra special this Christmas!

To ensure the meals can be delivered safely for our volunteers and clients, we have implemented a number of changes as follows:

• A catering company will prepare and package the meals off-site for safety and expediency (no meal prep by volunteers).

• Delivery routes will be pre-assigned and emailed to drivers a week before Christmas Day - available as a PDF or via the HERE WeGo delivery app.

• Check in and meal pickup on Christmas Day will be drive-up (volunteers will remain in their vehicles)

• Masks and social distancing for ALL volunteers

• Deliveries will still be door to door

Driving Shifts are available as follows:

• Single routes of 20 meals (2 food boxes)

• Double routes of 40 meals - less stops but more deliveries at those stops (4 food boxes)

• Front Desk Drop-off Routes (Large Capacity Vehicles) - where individual deliveries are not permitted due to COVID-(up to 8 boxes for multiple building deliveries)

(NOTE: Drivers - please only reserve ONE SPOT PER VEHICLE.

• If you wish to be assigned TO A DOUBLE ROUTE (40 meals), please reserve a spot for the Double Route shift.

• There are 2 boxes per route of 20 meals. If reserving a spot for a Double Route Shift, please ensure you have space for 4 food boxes.
