Volunteer Title:Food Pantry Distribution
Report To:Terry Knickerbocker & Food Pantry Staff
Schedule:Monday - Friday, 8:30am – 12pm |seven volunteers needed per day
Role Overview:The Food Pantry Program provides food and essential items to seniors, unhoused individuals, and families in our community. As a Food Pantry Support Volunteer, you play an important role in creating welcoming, organized, and efficient experience for clients, from check-in to food distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
Check-In Process:
Manage the check-in process efficiently to ensure all participants are accounted for
Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with required paperwork
Food Distribution:
Assist with sorting and packaging food items for distribution
Help clients select food items based on their needs and preferences
Ensure food is distributed in a respectful, welcoming, and non-judgmental manner
Inventory Management:
Receive, inspect, and organize food donations
Monitor inventory levels and notify pantry staff of shortages or overages
Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized storage area
Client Assistance:
Greet and assist clients in a friendly, compassionate, and professional manner
Provide information about additional campus resources or services when needed
Qualifications:
Interact effectively and respectfully with clients, staff, and fellow volunteers
Lift and carry boxes of food (up to 25 lbs) and stand for extended periods (up to 3.5 hours)
Dress Code:
Closed-toe shoes (no sandals, heels, or flip-flops).
Shirts may be short or long-sleeved; no spaghetti straps, strapless, sleeveless, or midriff-baring tops.
Shorts, dresses, and skirts should be of appropriate length for comfort when bending or reaching.
Requirements:
Must be 14 or olderand sign up online. All volunteers must be confirmed in advance—no walk-ins.
If under 18, a parent or guardian must contact the Volunteer Coordinator to provide consent and arrange drop-off/pick-up.
All volunteers must connect with the Volunteer Coordinator to complete onboarding, including forms and ID verification.
Volunteers committing to over 40 hours per yearmust complete a background check (no exceptions).
