Join us this fall to make a meaningful impact alongside Arizona State Universitystudents in tutoring local elementary school children!
Program at a Glance
Program Name: American Reads (partnered with Arizona State University)
Tutor Support: ASU students currently participate in America Reads by tutoring in small groups and one-on-one sessions, focusing on reading, writing, and math aligned with Arizona Academic Standards.
Your Role: Serve as a volunteer mentor by assisting ASU students with instructional support, group activities, and providing your expertise to enhance literacy outcomes.
Timeframe & Location
Duration: September 9 – December 5, 2025
Days & Times: Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: The Salvation Army - 628 N 3rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85003
Ideal Volunteer
Retired educators with experience in elementary instruction
Familiarity with literacy instruction, differentiated learning, and managing small groups
Compassionate, flexible, and excited to mentor both students and ASU tutors
Available consistently during program hours
