Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Salvation Army in Chula Vista, Senior Nutrition program
What You'll Do:
Set up/Clean up for the program. This may include cleaning dishes, wiping down tables after each client, lowering chairs from tables and setting them on top of tables after program, other duties as assigned
Prepare utensil sets to ensure our senior nutrition lunches are ready to be enjoyed
Serve our senior client’s coffee, tea and water during lunch
Help greet and check in clients
Qualifications:
Screening Process: Requires an interview over the phone, a background check, three references, and an online trainings.
Must commit to volunteering at least once a week for 3 months. Schedule is Monday through Friday 8am to Noon.
Able to lift and carry a minimum of 15 pounds
Must be able to work with the public and have a passion for helping the un-housed and low-income individuals.
What to expect next:
We will e-mail you to set up a time for a phone interview
You will also be sent a background check form to fill out.
We will call your references
Your application will be processed
Once you are cleared there are a few on-line training courses for you to complete
Once this is completed you will be sent a link to sign up for shift or set up a shift with your site manager

We are NOT accepting court ordered volunteers at this location
This process typically takes roughly 2 weeks to complete
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old
Volunteers must have the cognitive ability to provide consent for themselves and work independently
We do not accept court-ordered volunteers.
Volunteers must be prepared to interact compassionately with individuals experiencing housing instability and potential mental health concerns
