Position Overview: The Salvation Army EDS Warehouse Volunteer plays an essential role in supporting the Denver Metro area by assisting with various warehouse operations. Volunteers will help with vehicle maintenance, canteen cleaning, hygiene kit assembly, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. This position provides a valuable opportunity to directly impact the community while gaining experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Warehouse Hours: Our operations run from 9am - 4pm, Monday - Friday. Ideally, volunteers can commit to 4-16 hours per week during these open hours.

Clothing Requirements: Wear closed toe shoes and no loose-fitting garments. Dress for the weather as the bay doors may be opened during your shift. Please bring your badge when you get it.

Specific Functions:

A. Vehicle Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and functionality of vehicles used for transportation and delivery

B. Canteen Cleaning: Assist in cleaning and organizing the canteen area to ensure it’s ready for use by staff, volunteers, and clients

C. Hygiene Kits: Assemble hygiene kits for distribution to those in need. This may include packing toiletries and other essentials into bags for clients

D. Maintain a clean and safe work environment

E. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Have a passion for The Salvation Army mission

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Ability to lift and move heavy items when required

A positive and flexible attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to operate heavy machinery including a forklift

Skills:

Teamwork and collaboration

Problem-solving abilities

Physical stamina and strength to handle warehouse tasks

Excellent communication skills with volunteers and team members

Customer service orientation for interacting with individuals receiving donations

Software-related skills: Basic computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn internal software programs for inventory tracking and reporting.
