The Youth Sunday School Teacher is responsible for providing spiritual education to children and youth, helping them develop a strong foundation in their faith. This role involves creating engaging, age-appropriate lessons based on biblical teachings while fostering a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for learning.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and teach weekly Sunday School lessons in accordance with the church’s curriculum.
Use interactive activities such as storytelling, games, crafts, and music to reinforce lessons.
Encourage student participation and facilitate discussions to help youth apply biblical principles to their daily lives.
Establish and maintain a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
Maintain attendance records and communicate with parents as needed.
Serve as a role model by demonstrating Christian values and positive behavior.
Assist in planning special youth events, holiday programs, or outreach activities.
Follow all Salvation Army policies regarding child safety and classroom management.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years old.
Passion for working with children and youth in a faith-based setting.
Strong understanding of biblical principles and willingness to teach from The Salvation Army’s perspective.
Good communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Experience in teaching or working with children is preferred but not required.
Must pass a background check and complete child safety training before teaching.
Schedule & Time Commitment:
Sundays, ongoing
Typically 9:30am-12:30pm every Sunday, plus lesson preparation time.
