Service Extension Social Services Volunteer
Uinta County Unit

The Salvation Army is committed to Doing the Most Good. Our mission, while being a part of the universal Christian Church, is motivated by the love of God to preach the gospel while meeting human needs in His name without discrimination. Yet, we couldn’t do this without volunteers. Service Units are primarily manned by volunteers and often represent a variety of people who partner with the Army from other churches or local community organizations in an effort to help the community together. By utilizing volunteers, we can ensure that more funding goes into direct service to clients. The Service Unit is made up of local volunteers who are organized into committees that represent The Salvation Army where there is not a Salvation Army Corps (Church). Most members of the Uinta County Service Unit Committee are community leaders who come from business, labor, government, clergy, volunteer agencies, public safety, education, the medical field, and other professions. As we continue to build up a team of volunteers in these local units state-wide, we happily invite you to apply!

Service Area: Uinta County

Volunteer needs -

Committee members: The Uinta County Service Unit Committee also helps in discovering unmet needs, and helps The Salvation Army to develop new programs. Committees provide advice and act as a liaison between The Salvation Army and the community. The positions held are typically but not limited to Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and Welfare Secretary. These positions include being a part of the Red Kettle Campaign (Nov-Dec annually), coordinating volunteers, being a part of other fundraising and local opportunities, fostering local partnerships with companies and organizations, and hosting a minimum of quarterly committee meetings to make decisions on Unit affairs.

Bell Ringers: Bell ringers are individuals/families or groups that want to volunteer for a 2-hour shift to ring the familiar bell outside local business’ doors. Bell ringing is how the unit can fund their local efforts and is the basis of all Salvation Army fundraising. More can be found about bell ringing here: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVgr90DtEac>.

Other seasonal volunteers: The unit may need special assistance meeting client needs, attending or supporting local events, and accept remote volunteers to help with budgeting, receipts, or other administrative work. This can be done a few hours a week, over the weekend, and more. If you have unique pockets of time to serve (even remotely) then please put that in the comment section.
