Please read the following:
Volunteers for this position must be at least 12 years of age or older. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers are carefully paired with opportunities that align with their skills and experience, and comprehensive on-site training is offered to ensure their preparedness.
All Salvation Army volunteers may undergo a background check upon staff request or after completing eight hours of service.
Hot Meal Service Volunteer Responsibilities
Hot meal service volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of The Salvation Army of Nampa's Day Resource Center. Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting Clients:Greet and assist clients in a respectful and compassionate manner, helping them navigate the meal service process.
2. Meal Preparation:Help prepare hot meals, ensuring that food is cooked safely and hygienically according to health standards.
3. Serving Meals:Serve breakfast at 8:30 am and lunch at 11:30 am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, ensuring clients receive adequate portions and a balanced meal.
4. Maintaining Cleanliness:Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area by regularly cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and dining spaces.
5. Inventory Management:Monitor inventory levels of food supplies, check expiration dates, and report any discrepancies to The Salvation Army staff for replenishment.
6. Providing Information:Answer basic inquiries about the meal service program, operating hours, and additional Salvation Army services.
