• Volunteers for this position must be at least 16 years of age or older. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

• Volunteers are carefully paired with opportunities that align with their skills and experience, and comprehensive on-site training is offered to ensure their preparedness.

• All Salvation Army volunteers may undergo a background check upon staff request or after completing eight hours of service.

Food Pantry Volunteer Responsibilities

Food pantry volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of The Salvation Army of Nampa's Food Pantry. Responsibilities include:

1. Assisting Clients: Greet and assist clients in a respectful and compassionate manner, helping them navigate the food pantry process.

2. Stocking Shelves: Organize and restock shelves with food items, ensuring that the pantry is well-stocked and items are easily accessible.

3. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, check expiration dates, and report any discrepancies to The Salvation Army Staff for replenishment.

4. Packaging and Sorting: Prepare food packages for clients, ensuring that they receive a balanced selection based on their household size.

5. Maintaining Cleanliness: Help maintain a clean and organized food pantry environment by regularly cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and storage areas.

6. Providing Information: Answer basic inquiries about the food pantry program, operating hours, and additional Salvation Army services.
