Volunteers for this position must be at least 16 years of age or older. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers are carefully paired with opportunities that align with their skills and experience, and comprehensive on-site training is offered to ensure their preparedness.
All Salvation Army volunteers may undergo a background check upon staff request or after completing eight hours of service.
Food Pantry Volunteer Responsibilities
Food pantry volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of The Salvation Army of Nampa's Food Pantry. Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting Clients:Greet and assist clients in a respectful and compassionate manner, helping them navigate the food pantry process.
2. Stocking Shelves: Organize and restock shelves with food items, ensuring that the pantry is well-stocked and items are easily accessible.
3. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, check expiration dates, and report any discrepancies toThe Salvation Army Stafffor replenishment.
4. Packaging and Sorting:Prepare food packages for clients, ensuring that they receive a balanced selection based on their household size.
5. Maintaining Cleanliness:Help maintain a clean and organized food pantry environment by regularly cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and storage areas.
6. Providing Information:Answer basic inquiries about the food pantry program, operating hours, and additional Salvation Army services.
